    I will say this extension uses URL permission because you can fully interact with and scroll the site while you select color values, even mouseover colors using the re-snap key (r). Other colour pickers don't do that. This extension ALSO does what those extensions do, with "snap mode" which allows screenshots of pages on extension interaction without any special tabs permission. This allows us to activate snap mode on pages where extensions normally do not have tab permission (e.g the extensions page itself) which IMO has always been a weird edge case of "actve tab" permissions but no tabs api. In terms of malicious behavior I'm not following what you are implying because this is not a for profit extension, nor is it spyware, which many others certainly are... yes the way chrome displays permissions is very cautious borderline misleading... and it is true some extensions likely violate web-store policies and act as blatant spyware collecting "honest analytics for debugging purposes" and what not.

    Worked out of the gate and gave me both RGB and HSL values, which is what I wanted it to do.

    I just tested the extension, and it seems to work actually... so whatever your problem happens to be, I don't think it has anything to do with this extension... since you have not presented any real information or details about what the problem might be there is no way I can actually help. Conformity is for suckers, and an absolutely evil thoughtless thing to do though.
